Adelaide Hills supermarket rammed and raided by thieves in stolen car

An Adelaide Hills supermarket was rammed this morning by a stolen Mercedes-Benz and raided by thieves.
CCTV at Coles on Mount Barker Road, Bridgewater captured the moment a luxury car ploughed through the glass doors with passengers who proceeded to rob the store.
The pair stole a number of mobile phones before fleeing the scene in the car.

Moments later, Bridgewater resident Kate Johnson saw a flaming car just down the road from Coles and notified police.

Police are investigating if the car fire and break-in are linked.

“I saw my life flash before my eyes as I was driving past there because I thought it was just going to spread,” said Johnson.

“The flames were about a metre above the car”.

A witness at Coles said these sorts of incidents are terrible for the community.

“This behaviour is not acceptable, I came here to shop almost every day for my lunch, and seeing this, it hurts”.

Police say the Mercedes had been stolen from a Prospect car yard.

Investigations are ongoing.
