Ritchies Maclean named IGA International Retailer of the Year 2023

Ritchies Maclean, a supermarket located in Australia, has been awarded the IGA International Retailer of the Year Award for 2023. This award is a great achievement for Store Manager Matt Saunders and the entire team at Ritchies Maclean. The store won the award after being named the Queensland IGA Store of the Year and then the Australian IGA Retailer of the Year.

Ritchies Maclean was announced as the International Retailer of the Year at an event in Las Vegas, where several of the company’s directors, the Queensland State Manager, the Maclean Store Manager, and some of the Maclean landlords were present.

The store’s CEO, Fred Harrison, stated that Ritchies was not in the business of opening supermarkets and liquor stores to win awards, but the company was grateful for the recognition.

Ritchies Maclean is the fourth store owned by Ritchies to win the International Retailer of the Year award, with Dromana (2003), Ballina (2008), and Dromana (2019) being previous winners. Mr. Harrison said, “To win this award once is an outstanding achievement, never mind winning it four times.”

The CEO thanked the entire team who has contributed to the success of Maclean, from the planning and development stage to the day the store started trading. He also thanked the company’s landlords, who bought the property and waited patiently for several years while the company waited on council DA’s and other applications.

Ritchies Maclean opened in October 2019 and was recognized for its outstanding customer feedback. Mr. Harrison congratulated Store Manager Matt Saunders and the entire Maclean team on being recognized as the International Retailer of the Year.

The company was also awarded the IGA International Award for Community Giving for its significant contribution through the Ritchies Card program. The program has donated almost $53 million since its inception, and the company is proud to be recognized on the international stage for the great support it has provided to local communities over many years.
